Our roots lie in the so-called old world wines, refering primarily to European wine countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Austria but also Romania, Hungary and England - amongst others. All these countries have a long history of wine making, with evidence of wine making dating back six thousand of years in Greece. In all these regions the art of wine making is in the choice of terroir, grape selection, work in the vineyard and timing of the harvest. Old world wines tend to be more elegant and complex than their sisters from the New World. Here, the wine maker and technology are often the determining factor.

At IWC, the most important regions include the Bordeaux, Languedoc, Champagne, Rhone and Bourgogne in France. In Italy, we are often in Veneto, Sicily, Piedmont, Tuscany, Puglia and Emilia. Whereas for Spain, our key areas are Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Navarra, Catalunya, Alicante, Valencia, Valdepenas and Rueda. We are open minded and never afraid to try something new and different. Our wine database contains many lesser known wines. What to say about innovative blends of fruit juices with white wines, a white Beaujolais, Kékfrankos from Hungary or a resinated Restina wine from Greece?
